Brixton Academy

One of London's premier live music venues that opened in 1929 as a cinema and theatre in Brixton, South London, it became a live music venue in 1982, changing its name from The Astoria in 1983. In 2008, the venue was renamed under a branding and naming agreement with communications provider, O2 (who have a similar arrangement with a number of similar named venues). Notwithstanding this branding, the venue is still referred to as "Brixton Academy" by many music fans.
