Big Beat

Big Beat is an American electronic and dance music record label based in New York City. It was originally founded as an independent record label in 1987, with an emphasis on house music and, later, hip hop, by a 22-year-old DJ, Craig Kallman, who initially ran the label from his parents' apartment.
Big Beat was bought by Atlantic in 1992, then absorbed into it in 1998, while Kallman was promoted to Vice President of the parent company.
The imprint was relaunched in 2010 as a primarily electronic music / dance music label, with Kallman and [a2341254] as executives.

Not to be confused with the British reissue label Big Beat Records.

For the company until 17 December 1991, please see Big Beat Records (12).
For the company after this date please see Big Beat Records, Inc. However, please credit as per release.
