Belter was formally launched in 1954 and run by record company Belter, S.L. from 1954 till the early 1962. After a company restructuring the label was operated by the renamed company Discos Belter, S.A. till its defunctness in 1984. It specialized in Spanish folk music and dance-oriented music. Belter name came from founders wives names: IsaBEL and TEResa.
Belter records were released in France by [l19309] since 1956.
