Arhoolie Records

Arhoolie Records is an American folk/roots music label, formally located in El Cerrito, California. It was formed in 1960 by Chris Strachwitz. From 1989 onward, releases appeared on CD. In May 2016, the label was purchased by the Sage Foundation and subsequently gifted to [l91602]. Arhoolie Records now operates as The Arhoolie Foundation at its El Cerrito address, with its mission being the preservation and celebration of American "tradition-based styles of music".
