Barnaby Records

When Archie Bleyer decided to liquidate the Cadence (2) label in 1964, Andy Williams wanted to buy the masters of his own material. Bleyer was willing to sell the masters on the condition that Williams bought the entire Cadence back catalog. Originally pressed and distributed by CBS Records until 1973, when distribution switched to MGM Records (for a brief time) and then to [l31481] (where it stayed until 1979).

Primarily a reissue imprint for the Cadence catalog (i.e. the Everly Brothers, Lenny Welch, The Chordettes, Johnny Tillotson), it also released new material by Claudine Longet, Jimmy Buffett, Phyllis Brown and Doyle Holly. Ray Stevens was highly involved with this label too (moving to the label with his late 1960s Monument Records material and recording for it from 1970 until 1975). Also reissued material recorded by Charles Mingus, Steve Lacy and Max Roach for Cadence's jazz imprint Candid.
